Lack of Testing

http://cannabisnews.com/news/4/thread4044.shtml

This article is talking about the lack of true scientific testing on marijuana. It addresses the fact that it has become a big political debate about whether or not it should be legalized for medical purposes. While it makes claims that little to no testing is done on marijuana and its health effects, I don't necessarily agree that no one has been testing it while the political debate has gone on, but more testing could never really hurt. Overall this article has many valid points, and has the opportunity to get people to start thinking more about the steps we are taking to educate ourselves about this plant rather than just trying to get it legalized as many advocates are doing.

The Benefits of Marijuana

http://www.benefitsofmarijuana.com/benefits.php

This addresses the side of the argument that is for marijuana. It has a lot of scientific information that describes both the physical and psychological benefits of marijuana. Some of the information seems to be a little out dated, though they are able to back up many of the arguments that are present with outside research, making the site at least relatively valid.

Marijuana: Fact Versus Fiction

http://drug-abuse.suite101.com/article.cfm/marijuana_facts_versus_fiction

A very well written article that carries a good deal of information. Not only does it address common incorrect beliefs but it also gives facts supporting their claims of fiction. It talks about the difficulty quitting that comes along with abusing this drug, and that is something that most articles don't really try to cover. The addictiveness This one states that it is very similar in difficulty to quit using marijuana as it is to quit using tobacco. It even may lead to the use of tobacco to calm the cravings. There aren't any links to resources so it makes it difficult to verify the information given.

Medical Marijuana: Good or Bad? Debate

http://library.thinkquest.org/03oct/01474/good1.htm

This is a web page that outlines the debate of if marijuana is good or bad. It brings up the major arguments for both sides, for and against. I think it would be much more effective if it went into a little more detail. Many of the points made on the list can easily be discredited, though the web page does have links to other pages that address various topics.

Exposing the Myth of Medical Marijuana Marijuana: The Facts

http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/ongoing/marijuanap.html

This is an article written by members of the DEA and is posted on the government website. It states that there are no benefits to smoking marijuana that have not already been discovered in another form of medicine. It also greatly focuses on the idea of marijuana being a gateway drug and leading to other more intense drug use.The health effects of marijuana are much stronger than those of tobacco as well as it takes much less to receive equivalent side effects. This is truly a very informative article that is completely against medical marijuana and has the research to back up its ideas.

http://www.alternet.org/drugreporter/126280/obama_makes_a_good_first_step_on_medical_marijuana_--_here%27s_what_he_should_do_next/

This article brings up many good points. The laws that are entact now that are contridicting
seem to be through a power struggle. I feel it will be easier once everyone is on the same
page and I think Obama giving his stance is a definate step in the right direction. People
should not be punished when the laws are fighting themselves. It makes the business impossible
for the shops that are legit businesses under state laws. I think once the Obama administration
settles down from the excitement of the new jobs and try to get a grasp on the economy
they will truly address the issues and come up with an ample solution.
